Ciao,

L'Isola d'Elba
in MTB

There is also a CLASSIC VERSION more focused on adventure and less on descents
GPE – GRANDE PEDALATA ELBA ISLAND -> SCOPRI DI PIÙ

The crossing of the Island of Elba in the Enduro version crosses technical paths both uphill and downhill: downhill sections reaching a scale of S3 and S4 (see below). Tested and approved by Elba MTB. Present the most iconic descents with the help of the shuttle to regain altitude on the most impervious sections.

SCALE STS

S3 – The S3 category includes single trails that have many technical passages made up of blocks of rock and/or roots. You will often encounter high steps, hairpin bends and difficult slopes and rarely smooth passages. Often you will also have to deal with slippery and loose soil. Sections with a gradient exceeding 70% are not uncommon. The S3 passages do not yet require the use of a trial technique, however excellent control of the bike and constant concentration are required. The ability to know how to brake with good precision (therefore mastery in the modulation of the brake), and an excellent balance are essential.

S4 – The very technical sigletrails belong to the S4 category, presenting large blocks of rock and/or particularly demanding passages on roots on a terrain that is most often not very compact. Often you will come across ramps with an almost extreme slope, tight hairpin bends and steps, the latter high enough to considerably increase the risk of contact with the crankset chainrings. The use of a bashguard (paracorona) is therefore strongly recommended for these paths. In order to ride S4 trails, trial techniques are absolutely necessary, such as the ability to move the front or rear wheel (for example in sharp bends), perfect braking technique and excellent balance. Only those who love extreme and very technical driving can complete an S4 course. The more technical passages of the S4 type routes are often difficult to overcome even on foot.

Possibility of ferrying to Cavo without a car and using our Bike-Shuttle to transport luggage to our Residence.

TOUR OF THE ISLAND OF ELBA
Elba MTB offers a 5-day itinerary that covers the whole island: Monte Calamita, Monte Perone, Monte Capanne, Monte Tambone and the northern part (Porto Azzurro/Cavo): FIND OUT MORE.

Elba has an incredibly dense network of trails – you need accurate and up-to-date MTB trail maps for orientation. While other products show the whole island on a small map with large scale, outdated routes and without proper MTB classification, a completely new route has been taken here.

elba-trailmaster

Based on 15 years of Elba riding and “hiking” experience, all currently accessible and navigable paths are now recorded in the Trailmaster and classified in color according to the single trail scale – on a super scale 1: 12500 – and where that’s not enough with additional detailed maps 1: 7500 – 1:5000!

Due to the restrained coloring of the asphalt and gravel roads and the background topography, the Sentieri and coveted single trails with their contrasting colors can be clearly recognized. The well-known alpine color scheme was chosen for the main grades:

 S0 flat green    S1 easy – blue    S2 medium – red     S3 difficult  black    S4-S5 extreme magenta

Arrows on the trails lines show the main direction downhill and elevation points at prominent places make it easier to recognize the development in altitude, but there is additional information on high points, low points and saddle points.

Since 2018, the Sentieri of the Parco Nazionale Arcipelago Toscano / CAI have been redistributed and numbered, they are shown in full on the maps (red-white-red numbers).

The best single trails are combined and numbered to 88 longer Singletracks. The enclosed four-language trackbook describes every  single track with course, technical difficulty, panoramic and overall ratings, structured according to the four island sectors and areas.
In addition, a sorted list with an overview of the best singletracks is included.

Here you can find  all of the island’s top trails such as

  • Westcost Freerides – Patresi – Chiessi – Pomonte
  • Terra Granito – Vie Granito
  • Monte Perone
  • TES Toscano Enduro Series
  • Marciana alto / Marciana
  • San Martino
  • Lacona
  • Portoferraio
  • Burraccio
  • Cima del Monte
  • Porto Azzurro
  • Miniere Rio
  • Cavo
  • Monte Calamita / Miniera Calamita Marathon Trails

Many of them lead from high peaks down to the Mediterranean Sea with fantastic beaches,
so every biker will find the right single trails on Elba island.

The maps also contain all the important topographical details:

  •   Extensive geographical names
  •   Mountain peaks, valleys, saddles, ridges, valleys, rivers, ditches, lakes

What is Team Building? In the context of human resources, it is a set of training activities, variously defined as team games, team experiences, team wellbeing (playful, experiential or well-being), the purpose of which is to train a group of people.

The tour incentives and team building service is indicated for those companies that want to create or improve the harmony of their productive or managerial staff. Our team building ideas are varied and use the mountain bike to create pleasant days mixing sea, mountains, historical situations and orienteering. At the moment we manage to calibrate the appropriate difficulty for the technical skills of the group.

We are available to evaluate any idea, for us it is always a continuous challenge to try to create the best possible experience.

There is also an ENDURO VERSION with the help of SHUTTLE!
ELBA SUPER TRAIL -> FIND OUT MORE

Crossing the Island of Elba by MTB along cycle paths (S2 maximum S3, see below). Tested and approved by Elba MTB. The route avoids the wildest trails on the island, typical of the GTE (Grande Traversata Elbana) trekking version, but still requires experience in single track riding.

The GTE version is not suitable for Bike use: too many stretches of uphill portage (even in the case of e-bikes and expert bikers) and difficult descents, which often do not have the flow characteristics that a single-trail must have to be appreciated by the bike user.

S2 – The S2 classification includes routes that have larger roots, stones, steps and stairs in sequence that are not very demanding. You will often come across sharp, almost hairpin bends and gradients that in some passages can reach 70%. Obstacles can only be overcome with decent driving skills. The ability to brake at any moment, together with the ability to shift the balance points of one’s body, are necessary techniques for level S2. Equally necessary is knowing how to precisely dose the braking and keep the body always active while driving.

S3 – Single trails belong to the S3 category, with many technical passages made up of blocks of rock and/or roots. You will often encounter high steps, hairpin bends and difficult slopes and rarely smooth passages. Often you will also have to deal with slippery and loose soil. Sections with a gradient exceeding 70% are not uncommon.

A spectacular itinerary that crosses the entire ridge of the Island of Elba. It is one of the most significant walks on the island both in terms of duration and variety of route and panoramas: an experience full of suggestions and changes in vegetation.

GPE – MTB VERSION

Starting from Cavo, it crosses the lands of iron until it reaches the distant lands of granite, arriving in Pomonte (or Patresi). In fact, the GTE offers 2 versions which differ in the last kilometers (see photo above)

The path of the GTE was designed for the first time by Renato Giombini and Mario Ferrari in the 80s. The reason for the double Pomonte / Patresi arrival lies in the fact that at the time in the first town there was the bus terminus and the second was home to the only hotel open all year round.

CHARACTERISTICS

Departure: Cable
Arrival: Patresi / Pomonte
Average time: 24 hours and 20 minutes / 19 hours and 30 minutes (GTE record: 5h17’06” by Matteo Anselmi from Elba)
Length: 57.99km / 49.57km
Route difficulty: for experts
Altitude difference: 2685m / 3265m
